PSYCHOLINGUISTIC AND PEDAGOGICAL ESSENCE OF LISTENING COMPREHENSION

This article provides a theoretical analysis of the psycholinguistic and pedagogical essence of listening comprehension skills. Listening comprehension is defined as a receptive type of speech activity, and its nature as an active cognitive process is examined through the perspectives of leading scholars such as J. Field and M. Rost. The article analyzes internal and external factors influencing the success of the listening process, as well as psychological mechanisms (attention, memory, perception, anticipation). A detailed discussion is provided on G. Buck's two-level model (identification and comprehension levels) and the three-stage pedagogical model (pre-listening, while-listening, and post-listening stages) developed by J. Wilson, J. Flowerdew, and L. Miller. The article substantiates the importance of a stage-by-stage approach, the use of metacognitive strategies, and the consideration of psychological factors in developing listening comprehension skills among higher education students.

This article analyzes the role and methodological approaches of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the formation of independent English language learning competence in higher education institutions. Independent learning competence refers to a student's ability to self-develop, independently acquire language skills, and effectively use digital tools. The article proposes a methodology for individualizing the learning process, increasing motivation, and developing metacognitive strategies using AI tools — chat bots, language applications, and automatic analysis platforms. The effectiveness of the methodology is also assessed based on experimental observations and recommendations are made for its application in the local educational context.

BAYKAN CESAR'S PEDAGOGICAL METHODS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRITICAL SOCIOLOGY IN TURKEY

This article is dedicated to analyzing Baykan Sezer's contribution to the institutionalization of sociology in Turkey. It focuses on his academic and pedagogical activities, as well as his role in the development of the critical school within the Turkish sociological tradition. Sezer critically challenged Western-centric theoretical approaches and proposed an original methodological perspective based on dependency theory and local social realities. His academic and educational legacy significantly influenced the development of sociology as an autonomous discipline in Turkey and contributed to the emergence of a new generation of critical scholars. Moreover, the article discusses the relevance of Sezer's works in the international academic context and their impact on global sociological discourse.
