In this article, the embassy and diplomatic relations conducted between the Safavids of Iran and Russia during the reign of Shah Abbas I, the attempts of the two countries to form an alliance against the common enemy, the Ottomans, as well as the trade relations, the conflicts between the two countries in the Caucasus and their consequences are given.
